President Trump confirmed that he will no longer attend the University of Georgia vs. University of Alabama game in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday as Hurricane Isaias barrels toward the Gulf Coast.
“Based on the fact that a huge Hurricane/Storm is coming, it is important to have our wonderful First Responders, Law Enforcement, and others, focused on that Storm, and in no way be thinking about the safety, or presence, of the President of the United States, ME!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post .
The president added that he hopes the game will go on despite the weather, noting that he will be visiting both teams “at a later date.”
Tuscaloosa is not currently projected to be in the eye of the storm but is under a tropical storm warning.
The game would have been the second Southeastern Conference (SEC) football game Trump has been to in a month. Last month, Trump traveled to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Texas-Tennessee game.
Trump noted in his post that he is still slated to travel to Clarksville, Tenn., for a rally Saturday.
“I will go to Tennessee, where we have quickly called a Big Rally in order to get our fantastic Congressional Candidates, our Great Senator, Bill Hagerty, and a woman who will go down as one of the most impactful Governors in the State’s History, Marsha Blackburn, elected!” Trump said.
