Trump’s childhood home sells for nearly $2 million

President Trump’s New York City childhood home sold for $1.93 million following renovations that transformed the previously damaged property.

The Tudor-style house was bought by an undisclosed buyer through a contract in July though the home has changed hands multiple times since the president resided there.

The seller Tommy Lin bought it last year for $835,000 after sitting vacant for years and reportedly overrun with feral cats, according to The New York Post . Lin reportedly spent $500,000 while renovating the home’s interior including adding a chef’s kitchen and new flooring.

Lin said the effort was to make the home “ great again .”

Trump Birth House LLC listed the home in 2019 but it went vacant for years until Lin eventually bought it. While the company owned the home, it rented the residence out on Airbnb alongside cardboard cutouts of Trump and decorations themed around the president.

The house – located on the outskirts of Queens – was originally built by real estate developer and businessman Fred Trump, the president’s father, in 1940. Despite living in the home until 4 years old and being a third-generation New Yorker , Trump’s relationship with the Big Apple’s leadership has remained complicated.

During NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s campaign, Trump called him a “communist” and someone “who doesn’t know a damn thing” while threatening to withhold federal funds from New York.

Trump’s opinion on Mamdani shifted when the pair met in 2025 following the mayor’s election win.

“I think you’re going to have, hopefully, a really great mayor. The better he does, the happier I am,” Trump said from the Oval Office with Mamdani standing beside him.

Trump did not attend the Ground Zero commemoration in New York City on Sept. 11 this year, instead opting to attend the Pentagon memorial service. The president also recently generated controversy for claims about his activity at Ground Zero in the wake of the terrorist attack, later attacking New York magazine for describing the comments as a “weird lie.”
