Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed (D) is projected to win a sixth term in the Senate, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Reed defeated Republican Raymond McKay. Reed was first elected to the Senate in 1996 after serving in the lower chamber for six years. He previously served in the Rhode Island state Senate.
Prior to a career in politics, Reed worked as an attorney. He is the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee and also holds a senior position on the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.
He easily fended off a primary challenger earlier this year in the deep-blue state.
