Jon Stewart is staying with “The Daily Show” through the next White House race.
Comedy Central announced Monday that Stewart will extend his once-a-week hosting duties through December 2028.
The 63-year-old comedian hosts “The Daily Show” on Mondays and also serves as its executive producer. A rotating lineup of comics and TV personalities host the show through the rest of the week.
“Jon Stewart is a generational talent and ‘The Daily Show’ continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central,” George Cheeks, Skydance TV’s co-chair and chief content officer, said in a statement.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award-winning news team,” Cheeks said.
Stewart hosted “The Daily Show” full time for 16 years before stepping down in 2015. He returned to the satirical news program for his Monday night hosting gig in 2024. At the time, the network hailed the Emmy winner’s homecoming, calling him the “perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit” in “our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics.”
Last year, Comedy Central announced Stewart had inked a new deal to keep him in the hosting chair through 2026.
