Live updates: Trump lifts beef import tariffs, heads to South Carolina to rally for Graham

President Trump on Friday sought to ease price pressure on beef prices by temporarily lifting the tariffs on imported beef. The move drew swift and sharp rebukes from some lawmakers and ranchers.

Trump is set to hit the campaign trail Friday in an attempt to give Republican Sen. Darline Graham (S.C.) one last boost before the special GOP primary runoff Tuesday.

Graham, a political newcomer who replaced her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), is going up against Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) for the opportunity to snag the Republican seat in the Palmetto State.

Darline Graham’s inexperience showed on the debate stage Tuesday when she was unable to answer a national security question, raising uncertainty about her ability to serve in the Senate.

The Supreme Court on Friday temporarily halted an appeals court order that would’ve stopped above-ground construction on the White House ballroom. Chief Justice John Roberts’s administrative stay gives the court additional time to consider the administration’s emergency appeal but contains no explanation. It does not necessarily reflect the court’s thinking on the underlying legal issues.

IndyCar will take over the District of Columbia this weekend, with the Freedom 250 race Saturday and Sunday. It may cause a “little bit of carnage,” the IndyCar chief said.
