(NEXSTAR) – As more chains continue to join and up their game in the “chicken wars,” another fast food brand is expanding its footprint.

It’s been 30 years since Raising Cane’s first opened in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Since then, the company has brought its chicken fingers and Cane’s Sauce to more than 950 locations in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam.

Cane’s is now gearing up to open several new restaurants in September as it continues to grow.

Among the soon-to-open spots is Raising Cane’s first-ever restaurant in a popular tourist destination in California.

“We’re especially excited about our upcoming Restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, where we’ll introduce our brand to the city for the first time in one of the area’s most iconic destinations,” a spokesperson told Nexstar via email. “We’re looking forward to bringing the Raising Cane’s experience to the Wharf and welcoming locals and visitors alike.”

An exact opening date hasn’t been set for the Wharf location, but Raising Cane’s has confirmed when others will open their doors in September:

A handful of other future locations are listed as opening soon on the Raising Cane’s website, but no scheduled date has been released yet:

Local reports show a location is also in the works in Springfield, Oregon. A representative previously confirmed to Nexstar’s KRON that the company hopes to open new locations in Rohnert Park and Napa , both north of San Francisco, next year.

Officials in Colonie , New York, and West Manchester Township , Pennsylvania, have also given Raising Cane’s approval to build new locations in their towns. It’s unclear when these restaurants could open.

As of August 2026, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming are still awaiting access to Cane’s Sauce. The chicken chain said population density weighs heavily in its decisions about “where and when we expand into new markets and states.”
