Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, says he’s hoping to patch things up with his family and that working on a reconciliation is “the most important thing” to him.

The 42-year-old British prince opened up about where things stand with his family in an interview published Tuesday in GQ . Harry has reportedly been estranged for years from his father, King Charles III, along with his older brother, Prince William.

Harry and his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, stepped away from their full-time royal family duties in 2020.

Asked if the “complicated relationship” with his father and sibling is something he grieves, Harry replied, “Yes, of course. I think from a family perspective, again: another massively relatable issue for so many people. There’s sibling disagreements, there’s broken relationships between kids and their parents, kids and one parent.”

“That continues to come up with me the whole time by people that I speak to , s o I know how relatable it is. That’s probably why there’s so much fascination,” Harry, who’s promoting his MasterClass focused on dealing with grief, told the magazine.

“And then people maybe look at us and go, ‘How are you going to work it out?’ And then, maybe, how I see you’re going to work it out, maybe that will help me work my stuff out,” he said.

“And some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out,” Harry said.

Pressed on his response about having a desire to mend his relationship with his family, Harry said, “Of course I do. Again, with everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile.”

Harry and Meghan recently returned to the United Kingdom — moving back to London in August with their two children after spending six years in California.
