Abdul El-Sayed is getting a star-studded boost from Bruce Springsteen on the eve of Election Day, with the “Born in the U.S.A.” singer describing Michigan’s Democratic Senate nominee as a “fighter” for democracy.
Springsteen praised El-Sayed in a Monday Instagram post , calling him a “fighter for our American Constitution.”
El-Sayed, who’s running against former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) in the Great Lakes State, is a “fighter for our American Democracy, and he’s a fighter against the corrupt, lawless, and anti-American leadership currently in the White House,” the 77-year-old musician said.
“That’s why I’m in his corner 100 percent,” Springsteen, a vocal critic of President Trump, said of El-Sayed in his post to his nearly 2.5 million Instagram followers.
Springsteen’s support came a day after Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), El-Sayed’s former primary rival, sent shock waves across the political world with her surprise endorsement of Rogers.
Earlier this year, Springsteen performed as part of a nationwide concert tour that he said was “in defense of America.”
The “Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour,” Springsteen said at the time, aimed to celebrate democracy and freedom, “which are under attack by our wannabe king and his rogue government in Washington, D.C.”
