Trump to attend Sept. 11 ceremony at Pentagon, not NYC

President Trump will not be traveling to New York City for the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, according to The Hill’s sister network NewsNation.

A White House official told the network that Vice President Vance is “still traveling to NYC and all three sites will be represented with administration officials in attendance.”

The New York Times and CNN reported Friday that Trump will deliver remarks at the Pentagon to mark the anniversary.

According to the Times, Trump was interested in delivering remarks at the Ground Zero sight in Manhattan on the anniversary. However, since 2012, politicians have not been allowed to deliver remarks at the site.

The publication also noted that other factors played into the decision for Trump to mark the anniversary at the Pentagon, including his trip the next day to his golf course in Doonbeg, Ireland, which is hosting the Irish Open.

“As a proud New Yorker, President Trump has spoken about his own experiences watching the horrific events of September 11, 2001,” White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said in a statement when asked where Trump will mark the anniversary

“On the 25th anniversary of this tragic day, the President will remember those who were killed at the hands of evil terrorists, honor their loved ones, and pay tribute to the brave first responders who put their lives on the line to rescue their fellow Americans,” she continued.

This will be the second year in a row Trump has marked the anniversary at the Pentagon.

In 2024, Trump and Vance attended the ceremony at Ground Zero. Former President Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris were also in attendance.
