Knicks’ Jalen Brunson hosting ‘SNL’ season premiere

The New York Knicks star guard will host the season premiere of “Saturday Night Live” later this month as the NBC sketch comedy show returns for its 52nd run this fall.

Brunson, who led the Knicks to their first NBA title in decades over the summer, will host the show on Sept. 26, the same night that will feature musical performances by K-pop group Katseye.

Brunson was named NBA Finals MVP for his performance against the San Antonio Spurs, capping a career-best season and ending the Knicks’ 53-year title drought. The team last won the NBA championship in 1973, two years before “SNL” debuted in 1975.

The Knicks captivated the nation with their title run earlier this year, with the front row of home games at Madison Square Garden packed with former “SNL” stars like Tina Fey, Ben Stiller and Tracy Morgan.

Also hosting “SNL” this fall will be actress Dakota Johnson on Oct. 3 and Shane Gillis on Oct. 10.

The show has been known in recent years for its political humor and skits poking fun at President Trump and other top U.S. officials. In June, Knicks owner James Dolan, a friend of the president who hosted him for Game 3 of the NBA finals, accepted an invitation for the team to visit the White House.
