Scott’s daughter, Marcye Scott, and Everton Blair, a former Gwinnett County board of education member, advanced from the runoff after no candidate secured more than half of the vote on July 28. Both candidates are Democrats.

Democrat Jasmine Clark, a state lawmaker, won the Democratic primary for the full term in the blue district. She will face Republican Jonathan Chavez in November.
