Trump fires back at Obama’s Cheesecake Factory jab

President Trump fired back at former President Obama during a Monday night rally in Corinth, Miss., after the former commander in chief likened Trump’s White House renovations to a Cheesecake Factory while on the campaign trail over the weekend.

“‘Donald Trump spends a lot of his time fixing up the White House,’” Trump said, mocking Obama. “Isn’t that a nice thing to do?”

“He said, ‘This isn’t a Cheesecake Factory.’ Can you believe it? Which is a very successful company. He doesn’t like successful companies,” the president told supporters in Corinth, going on to tout his renovation projects at the White House.

Obama joked during a campaign stop Saturday in Cleveland that Trump has the White House “looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory, it’s just gold everywhere.”

Hussein’s Iraqi palaces were famously adorned with gold fixtures and decor.

“He seems very focused on home renovations. He should be on HGTV,” Obama said of the president Saturday.

Trump first lashed out at Obama while speaking with reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland en route to Mississippi.

“He doesn’t understand it because he’s not a smart guy,” Trump said. “The way he ran the country, only a stupid person would run the country like that.”

“We have to explain to Obama that the White House is a symbol of America, and it has to be maintained properly. It has to be painted, and the exterior plaster can’t be falling off the walls, and the decorations and the ornaments on the windows that are magnificent can’t be on one side of the window and falling off on the other side,” he continued.

“It’s not about money. It’s about seeing. Guys like Obama don’t see it. He doesn’t see dirt, he doesn’t see filth, he doesn’t see broken ornaments on a building,” Trump said. “For you to say it was a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president.”
