Milo Yiannopoulos held in ICE custody

Far-right political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is being held at a detention center, according to the agency’s online detainee database.

The British native served as chief of staff for the rapper Ye, formerly Kanye West, and was in Louisiana ahead of Ye’s scheduled concert in New Orleans on Friday night, according to TMZ, which first reported his detainment.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Yiannopoulos was apprehended Thursday night at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) in Kenner, Louisiana.

DHS stated “Yiannopoulos legally entered the country on May 14, 2019, through New York City, New York. He chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws.”

“Yiannopoulos was issued a final order of removal by an Immigration Judge on July 22, after failing to show up for his immigration hearing,” DHS continued in their statement. “He will remain in ICE custody pending removal.”

Far-right influencer Laura Loomer, who had a public fallout with Yiannopoulos, is taking credit for first sharing news of his immigration status.

Loomer alleged in December that Yiannopoulos overstayed his visa and has been illegally residing in the U.S., including staying at the homes of former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and podcaster Candace Owens.

In a social media post, Loomer claimed Yiannopoulos called for her to be “assassinated” at the height of their feud, prompting her to report his immigration status to authorities.

“When Milo called for me to be assassinated, I reported him to ICE and the FBI,” she wrote on the social platform X .

Yiannapolous is known for his close ties to Ye and served as his director of political operations during Ye’s 2024 presidential campaign. The British commentator has also been a public supporter of ICE operations and has previously called for “total legal immunity” for ICE agents while performing their duties.

“California needs ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances, gas stations, strip malls, intersections and government buildings, with on the spot deportation for anyone who can’t prove they are in the US illegally,” he wrote social media in June 2025 .
