Watch live: Trump rallies Texas Republicans amid midterm warning signs

President Trump is returning to Texas Wednesday night as Republicans look to shore up support in an increasingly competitive midterm landscape.

Trump will rally voters in San Antonio, marking his third trip to the state in a month after stops in Dallas for the GOP midterm convention and a tour last week at a truck facility in Denton.

The latest visit comes as polls show Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton trailing Democrat James Talarico in the race to replace outgoing Sen. John Cornyn (R). Once seen as a GOP stronghold, multiple forecasters now view the seat as a toss-up.

Paxton is expected to join Trump at the rally, along with Republican House candidate Carlos De La Cruz, who is locked in another competitive race in the Lone Star State’s redrawn 35th Congressional District. The House hopeful is the brother of Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R), who is running for reelection in the state’s 15th District.

The stop is the latest in the president’s swing through red states as the party fights to maintain the majority of Congress next term.

His remarks are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. EDT.
