Jim Jordan predicts third Trump impeachment if Democrats take control of House

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on Sunday predicted that Democrats will impeach President Trump for a third time between his two presidencies if they take control of the House after the November midterm elections.

Jordan suggested in an interview on “ Cats Roundtable ,” the WABC 770 AM radio show hosted by John Catsimatidis, that Democrats will take the legislative branch’s oversight capability “and turn it into a weaponization of government.”

“They say they’re not going to, but we know they will –– they’ll do a third impeachment of President Trump,” Jordan told the host. “But that’s just part of it. They’re going to investigate the first family, they’re going to investigate cabinet secretaries.”

Jordan said Democrats, specifically naming the senior Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), will also look to impeach FBI Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Todd Blanche, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth should they win back the House.

“And then they’ll also, I think, go after people in the private sector,” Jordan continued. “They’re going to go up for any business who, as an example, you got businesses who helped paper the inauguration, which happened every four years … [Democrats] are going to somehow say, ‘Oh, these businesses have done something wrong.'”

The Ohio Republican also speculated that Democrats could attempt to go after the 2028 Republican nominee for president and their running mate, calling it “nonstop weaponized investigations.”

“Not for legitimate oversight, but to just go after your political opponents,” Jordan added.

Decision Desk HQ’s forecast shows a 72 percent probability that Democrats will win back the House.

It’s unclear if Democrats will go forward with another Trump impeachment after the previous two during and shortly after the end of his first term concluded with acquittals .

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said he has not ruled out pursuing another impeachment of the president, though he added that Raskin and Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will lead the charge to hold the president accountable if they become chairs of their respective committees.

Trump himself has warned Republicans that they must keep control of the House or he could face another impeachment. He said it again last month at a rally for South Carolina Republican Sen. Darline Graham, adding that Democrats seeking to impeach him “have no idea why.”

An earlier attempt to impeach Trump over his deportation agenda, spearheaded by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), failed this month . Green accused the president of abusing his powers by launching an immigration crackdown, resulting in the deaths of U.S. citizens.

The House first impeached Trump in 2019 over his threat to withhold military aid to Ukraine if its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, did not investigate then-presidential candidate Joe Biden. Trump was impeached again following the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. He was already out of office when the Senate voted to acquit him.
