Disgraced former Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner dropped an f-bomb in response to questions from a New York Post reporter who tracked him down in his remote oceanside community in Maine.
“Who the f‑‑‑ are you weirdos?” Platner asked a reporter while pulling a kayak from the water.
The reporter asked what Platner had been up to since exiting the Maine Senate race amid claims of sexual assault by an ex-girlfriend. Platner was ultimately replaced by state Sen. Troy Jackson (D).
“What the f‑‑‑ does it look like I’m up to? I’m being an oyster farmer,” Platner yelled at a reporter. “It just seems to be, like, life, man.”
Steven Vago, the reporter, said the exchange occurred in Sullivan, Maine, where Platner was an oyster farmer before and after his insurgent Senate campaign.
“How’s that going,” Vago asks of oyster farming.
“Well it goes the way it always goes, friend,” Platner responds.
“What does that mean?” the reporter says.
“It means the people from away have no idea what it is we do for a living,” Platner says.
The former candidate didn’t respond to a question about his prediction for Tuesday, when the Maine Senate race will be among the most closely watched in the country.
A CNN/SSRS poll reported Jackson up by 4 points against Sen. Susan Collins (R). The poll also found about 9 in 10 likely voters in Maine said they are locked into their choice.
Platner stayed in the race despite a string of scandals, including past Reddit comments that embraced communism, insulted police and appeared to put some blame on intoxicated victims of sexual assault.
But the testimony of a former girlfriend, first published in Politico, finally pushed him out of the race, coming after previous reports of problematic behavior with former romantic partners. Jenny Racicot, 41, said Platner forced her to have sex with him despite her repeated objections.
Another woman who dated him on and off for several years alleged to The Washington Post that Platner removed condoms without her consent while they were having sex.
Jackson is slightly favored to defeat Collins — the only Republican running for reelection this cycle in a state that former Vice President Kamala Harris won in 2024 — according to Decision Desk HQ .
