Hannity: Trump ‘is on the ballot’ in midterms

Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday said President Trump is on the ballot for the midterms, a talking point that’s been hammered by strategists, lawmakers and voters alike throughout campaign season.

Hannity told viewers, “Let me explain this: He is on the ballot because if we don’t get Republicans in the House and Senate, all progress in this country will come to a screeching halt.”

The host warned that Trump and Republican officials could face impeachment trials under a Democratic majority in either the House or the Senate.

“Now, of course, if Democrats take back majorities in the House and Senate in the fall, impeaching Donald Trump, that will be our future again and again and again. That will be their top agenda item,” Hannity said.

“Then, implementing their radical agenda, as laid out on the DSA [Democratic Socialists of America] website. That’s why, in an exclusive interview with our friend Trey Gowdy, the president urged Americans to vote like he is on the ballot,” he added.

The GOP has majorities in both chambers, but it has faced some legislative pushback from among its ranks over the past year.

Trump has made an intentional effort to oust incumbents who have bucked his agenda, successfully unseating Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.).

He’s also aided Sen. Darline Graham (R-S.C.) in gaining the party nomination to permanently retain the seat vacated by her late brother, telling voters to “pretend” he was on the ballot.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) says the president will do the same thing next month at the midterm convention.

“We’re going to talk about what we’ve done for the people. And then the president’s going to look right into the camera and say, I am on the ballot. OK,” Johnson emphasized during remarks at a campaign event for Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R-Texas).

“Because even though his name isn’t, right, his administration, his legacy, the ‘America First’ agenda is. We’ve got to get people to turn out,” he continued.

Trump has a 100 percent success rate for Senate campaign endorsements, according to Decision Desk HQ.

He has a 95 percent success rate for House races and a 69 percent success rate for gubernatorial races.

Hannity said under Trump’s leadership and a Republican majority, “We will get the government we deserve.”

“Sixty-nine days matter. I hope you will commit in your heart, mind, and soul that this is important, and we need to stop this right dead in its tracks,” Hannity added.
