Crowley, Tiffany tied in Wisconsin governor’s race: Poll

Democrat David Crowley and Republican Tom Tiffany are tied in a new poll of the Wisconsin gubernatorial race, suggesting a tight race in the presidential swing state.

In the Marquette Law School Poll, 44 percent of registered voter respondents said they would back Tiffany and 44 percent said they would back Crowley if the election was happening that day, while 12 percent were undecided.

Among likely voter respondents, 44 percent backed Tiffany, while 49 percent backed Crowley and 7 percent were undecided.

Crowley earlier this month defeated democratic socialist Francesca Hong in the Wisconsin governor’s race primary. Crowley had support from retiring Gov. Tony Evers (D) and pulled off an upset against Hong, a blow to left-wing Democrats.

Tiffany, for his part, easily won his own primary a few weeks ago .

Sabato’s Crystal Ball moved the Wisconsin governor’s race in the direction of Democrats following Crowley’s win. The handicapper switched the race from a toss-up to leaning Democratic.

The Marquette Law School Poll took place Aug. 12-20, featuring 891 registered voters and 738 likely voters, with 4 percentage points and 4.5 percentage points as their margins of error, respectively.
