Watch live: Vance rallies home-state voters as Ohio Senate race tightens

Vice President Vance is returning to his home state Friday to rally voters as Republican Sen. Jon Husted looks to fend off a familiar Democratic challenger to maintain his seat in the upper chamber.

Vance will headline the campaign event in Lima, Ohio, as the GOP looks to boost turnout with the midterms now less than a month away. The party is also fighting to keep its control of Congress next year.

Former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) is hoping to flip the seat , which the vice president once held, for Democrats.

President Trump, who has also ramped up his campaign efforts in recent weeks, will visit the state Monday. Trump and Vance are also seeking to grow support for Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

The event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
