Canada on Tuesday announced retaliatory tariffs against U.S. products, including steel and aluminum. Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne said Canada would match the U.S.’s tariffs “dollar for dollar, rate for rate.” The tariffs would take effect Sept. 8.

Since the trade negotiations between the U.S. and Canada came to a halt , President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney have turned to taunting. On Tuesday morning, the president suggested the U.S. could start referring to Lake Ontario as “Lake America.”

Tuesday’s South Carolina Republican Senate runoff election between Sen. Darline Graham and Rep. Ralph Norman will test President Trump’s endorsement power.

MAGA Inc., a super PAC that backs Trump, has invested in Graham’s election , and Trump touted an Oval Office meeting with the senator Monday night.

Norman trailed Graham in the state primary two weeks ago, with 24.6 percent and 32.7 percent of the vote, respectively, according to Decision Desk HQ . But Graham fumbled a question on Taiwan last week, which caused a wave of backlash . Polls close at 7 p.m. EDT.

Oklahoma’s primary elections are also Tuesday.

The president has nothing public on his schedule.
