Vijayawada: The high court on Wednesday directed the state govt to expedite steps to provide bone marrow transplantation treatment at govt hospitals and spell out a definite timeframe for making the facility operational.One Gunta Venkata Saikumar moved the court with a PIL, seeking directions to provide bone marrow transplantation facilities in govt hospitals and medical colleges across the state. Appearing as party-in-person, Saikumar urged the high court to prescribe a timeframe for introducing the treatment facilities.The state informed the court that steps were being taken to introduce the facilities at King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam and govt hospitals in Guntur and Kurnool. Special govt pleader S Pranathi said the director of medical education had forwarded proposals for developing the specialised infrastructure required for the treatment.
