Debra BJP MLA assaulted by party workers over corruption allegations

Debra: BJP MLA Subhashis Om was allegedly assaulted by party workers on Monday evening following an altercation over protests against local corruption and extortion.Om was admitted to Debra Super Specialty Hospital with head injuries and was seen with a bandage around his head.“There was trouble in the region, and some people wanted to file a case. I requested them not to do so, as we operate under the same party flag. Following this, some workers were beaten up. When I tried to intervene and stop them, I was also assaulted,” Om said.BJP Ghatal organisational district president Tanmoy Das visited the hospital, saying Om was stable and that internal disputes should be resolved within the party.Sources alleged that the attackers were close associates of Das. Rival factions later gathered at the hospital, prompting police intervention.
