Girl dies after falling into pit dug for construction of house in Palakkad

Palakkad: A five-year-old girl died after accidentally falling into a water-filled pit dug for the construction of a house at Mundur in Palakkad around 1.45pm on Saturday.The deceased is Anusree, daughter of Jagatheesh and Thulasi of Palakkeezh in Mundur.According to Mundur Police, the girl’s parents had gone to attend a funeral, leaving her in the care of her uncle. The family’s old house and her uncle’s house are situated on the same premises.When the parents returned, they found Anusree missing and launched a search. Her uncle spotted her footwear near the pit dug for installing pillars and found her inside the pit.She was pulled out and rushed to a nearby hospital, but could not be saved. Anusree was a UKG student at Nochuppully School.Police registered a case of unnatural death.
