Social media influencer booked for assaulting ex-Pune cantonment medical officer, demanding Rs 5 lakh

PUNE: Kalepadal police have booked a social media influencer and a contestant at a prominent Marathi reality show, along with her accomplices, for allegedly barging into the house of a 65-year-old former chief medical officer (CMO) of Pune Cantonment Hospital, assaulting him with sharp weapons, and demanding Rs5 lakh for purportedly publicising an event at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir.The complainant suffered injuries during the attack. After recovering, he lodged an FIR against the influencer, a resident of Sinhagad Road, and her 10 accomplices at Kalepadal police station on Friday. According to the police, the complainant retired as the chief medical officer (CMO) of the Pune Cantonment Hospital in 2021 and is a member of a social foundation. The organisation conducted a function at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir from Sept 1 to 3. Neither the complainant nor the organisation had officially invited the reel star to the event, nor had anyone asked her to publicise it. However, claiming that she had publicised the event, she began demanding Rs5 lakh from the complainant through phone calls and messages starting in Aug.On Sept 17, the influencer and several associates went to the complainant’s house. Since he was not at home, they allegedly threatened his wife and son before leaving. On Sept 23, the suspects called the complainant to an eatery where they again demanded money.
