Caroline also shared a snap on her Instagram of Bo wearing a hospital gown ahead of his surgery. In the picture, the country singer makes a silly face as he stands beside Bo and Caroline in an exam room.
"Not the best day for Bo, or our family, but he'll be back!!!! Dang collarbone…and of course Luke can't take a serious picture!" she captioned her post.
On Friday, Oct. 16, the 18-year-old was sacked during the Battle Ground Academy game against Pope John Paul II High School, according to The Tennessean .
The outlet reported that Bo hit the ground and landed on his right shoulder, and medics and trainers opted to put his arm in a sling and kept his shoulder wrapped as he sat on the sidelines for the rest of the game.
The following day, the teenage quarterback confirmed that he had broken his collarbone via his Instagram Stories, per USA Today . "Broke my collarbone last night," he wrote. "Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We will be back."
The "Country Girl" singer and his wife Caroline share two sons: Bo and Tatum "Tate" Christopher, born in 2010. Along with his two sons, Bryan and Caroline took in the country singer's nephew Til and nieces Jordan and Kris after the deaths of their mother, Bryan's sister Kelly, in 2007, and their father, Ben Cheshire, seven years later.
Bo — who is the starting quarterback and is considered one of the top high school quarterbacks in the region with 2,006 yards passing, 30 touchdowns and three interceptions to date — said that two players landed on him after the sack as he spoke with reporters after the game.
"I thought it was just a stinger when I hit the ground," he explained. "Once I got up I knew something was wrong. When I got to the sideline, I really knew something was wrong."
"I don't know what we're looking at yet," BGA coach Bobby Bentley told The Tennessean . "We'll have to figure this thing out. That's the challenge for us as a team and as coaches. What do we do? How do we do it? We're going to figure it out."
