A psychologist revealed that the president praising Nicki's body and asking her to stand up for the crowd may signal a "clear issue of disrespect" for Melania, who wasn't present at the rally.

Speaking to Irish Star , Clinical psychologist Dr Tracy King observed that Trump "essentially objectified Nicki for the point of entertainment," which could impact Melania, especially because of the very public nature of the moment.

"For a wife watching this, there is a clear issue of disrespect. Trump himself was aware he could have caused offense to Nicki Minaj, noted it, and then minimized it," King stated.

She explained that Trump gave no consideration for Melania as to how his words could affect her and that the "hurt" the first lady may feel is nothing as simple as "jealousy."

"He did not openly consider his wife. Yet his words have consequences for her… There is a lack of consideration here that will contribute to a lack of trust," the psychologist explained.

According to Dr. King, respect or lack of it is clear in how one partner behaves when the other is "present and when they are not."

She added that Trump's remarks could lead people to question Melania's self-respect as she remains in a marriage where her husband publicly disrespects her.

"Melania will also know that others will see it and make lots of assumptions about her self-respect, as she is in a marriage where she is treated this way," she said.

King also pointed out that the public nature of the moment worsens the situation for Melania, as a private inappropriate moment is "something a couple can control in terms of who knows about it and how they address it."

She suggests that as the remarks were made in a public forum, "feelings of embarrassment and shame" are likely to re-emerge as clips of the moments go viral and comments about it persist.

The expert warns that the moment could repeatedly make headlines, constantly renewing attention on Melania, making it difficult to move on from what she may have perceived as disrespectful.

However, King acknowledged that Melania may be unbothered by the remarks but suggested that an indifferent reaction could signal that there is emotional distance and a "huge rupture" in the first marriage.

"If anger is felt, a person is still trying to be heard and set a boundary. If this is gone, hope is gone," she concluded.

The first lady showed "nonverbal avoidance" of intimacy with Trump during an awkward kiss.

Minaj, in her gold Gucci suit, came out in support of Trump and led chants of the name of the president and that of Republican candidates.

She claimed that Americans needed all these "great people" elected before she left the stage, to which Trump remarked, "She never looked more beautiful. She gets it. She's smart."

Dr. King's expert analysis comes as other experts have pointed out Trump's tendency to make jokes about Melania during political speeches that could be perceived as disrespectful.

As reported by HuffPost , following remarks by the president at a rally in Wasilla, Alaska, and Bullhead City, Arizona, Psychologist Greg Cason argued that there's "hostile humor" in Trump's Melania material.

He stated that "Recruiting the audience creates a power imbalance in that moment," and that Trump appeared to be using Melania for "material, not advice."

Marriage and family therapist Jennifer Chappell Marsh implied in her expert opinion that Trump making a joke at Melania's expense could leave her feeling "embarrassed and devalued."

She explained that such behavior persisting even after it had been addressed may indicate that there's "underlying resentment being expressed passive-aggressively through 'humor.'"
