Mindy Kaling joins Kate Hudson’s ‘Running Point’ season 3 in recurring role

She is the writer, co-creator and executive producer on Kate Hudson-starrer 'Running Point' and now Mindy Kaling is joining the show as an actor.The Indian-origin creator, who rose to prominence with her role as Kelly Kapoor on 'The Office' and then went on to play the lead role in her show 'The Mindy Project' and movies 'Ocean's 8' as well as 'Late Night', will be in the recurring role of Divya, an outspoken, confident CEO of a popular gambling app, as per Variety."Much like Isla (Kate Hudson), she's proudly the first female leader in her male dominated field. Their similarities end there with Divya becoming a thorn in Isla's plans all season," read her character description by the show.The third season of 'Running Point' is currently in production in Los Angeles. Hudson is set to direct the first episode in her television directorial debut.Returning cast includes Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman and Justin Theroux, with recurring actors Ray Romano, Uche Agada, Ken Marino and Jay Ellis.'Running Point' revolves around Isla (Hudson), a former party girl and college dropout who is unexpectedly left in charge of her family's pro basketball team, Los Angeles Waves.The series is written by Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, who also serves as the showrunner.
