Anne Hathaway is explaining how she's having a little more fun with her career these days.

Hathaway, 43, appeared on CBS Mornings on Friday, Oct. 2, for an interview with Gayle King about her new movie Verity , the last of five movies the Academy Award winner has appeared in during 2026.

During the interview, King, 71, noted that Hathaway — who is pregnant and expecting her third baby with husband Adam Shulman and has been in the public eye throughout much of this year — appears to be embracing her success after navigating an at-times rocky relationship with fame in the past.

"Well, thank you for saying that and thank you for highlighting all those wonderful things. But I do think I have changed," Hathaway said. "I do think when I show up to something like this — you know, the joke you made about 'don't freeze,' 'cause that can happen. I know this is a big deal, but it's not everything, no offense. And so if I freeze on set, it's not the end of the world. There's a lot of people around who are there. And maybe they're actually hoping that the best thing happens. So I think that I've chilled out, which I think was necessary. And I think I'm more open to the fun of it."

"And to not take it all so personally," King added.

"It's actually just about the feeling and the connection that you have with other people," Hathaway responded. "And I wish that I figured that out earlier in my life, but I'm so grateful that I did at all."

Verity marks the final release in Hathaway's impressive five-film run in 2026 , following Mother Mary , The Devil Wears Prada 2 , The Odyssey and The End of Oak Street .

In the new movie, adapted from author Colleen Hoover's novel of the same name, Hathaway portrays Verity Crawford, a successful and reclusive author. The movie follows another writer, Lowen ( Dakota Johnson ), who is hired by Verity's husband, Jeremy ( Josh Hartnett ), to finish a series of books Verity had begun writing before suffering an accident. But Lowen's experience with the couple takes a chilling turn when she discovers a separate, unfinished manuscript written by Verity.

On CBS Mornings , King asked Hathaway whether she worried about people seeing "a lot of [her]" when she realized all five movies would be released within one calendar year.

"A little bit, of course. I mean, it's a lot and you want to be able to show up fully for each film," Hathaway responded. "And that's asking a lot of people to look at you for a long period of time. But then I thought to myself, 'What if it goes better than you'd imagine?'"
