This story has been updated to include a statement from the Tulsa Police Department.

Country singer Ella Langley canceled her Oct. 9 concert at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., following a security threat, telling fans she refused to put anyone in danger.

"Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight's show," Langley wrote on Instagram . "This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and my security team."

Tulsa Police Department Capt. Richard Meulenberg said in a video posted to Facebook that officers conducted multiple security sweeps of the BOK Center, including searches with bomb-sniffing dogs. The initial searches found no threat, but police returned after receiving a phone call warning of potential gunfire and bombs at the event.

"We came out again in an overabundance of caution, used our bomb dogs again, searched the entire area," Meulenberg said. "We could not find a credible threat here at the BOK Center."

Meulenberg emphasized that neither the police department nor the venue canceled the concert. He said officers informed Langley's team that they had found no credible threat and left the decision to proceed with the performance to the artist's team.

"We advised the group that was supposed to be performing tonight that we could not find a credible threat," Meulenberg said. "We would never tell anybody, if we couldn't find a credible threat, to cancel their event. So they made the decision to cancel their event tonight."

The police captain expressed disappointment for the thousands of concertgoers affected by the cancellation.

"The most disappointing thing is that thousands of people were here for this long-awaited event to come and enjoy the show, and they can't be here," Meulenberg said. "So the person who called us in with a phone call disrupted this entire event for all these folks."

Langley was scheduled to perform at the 19,199-seat venue with special guests Kameron Marlowe and Laci Kaye Booth . The venue shared the same statement confirming the cancellation and said additional information about ticket refunds would be shared as soon as possible. No rescheduled date for the Tulsa concert had been announced.

"I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can't tell you how sorry I am," Langley wrote. "This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm's way."

The "Dandelion" singer's next performance is Oct. 10 at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas, also with Marlowe and Booth. No cancellation of that performance has been announced.
