Country singer Ella Langley canceled her sold-out show slated for Friday evening in Tulsa, Oklahoma, due to what she described as “a serious security threat.” The 27-year-old star announced the last-minute cancellation on Instagram, saying the threat involved “the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team.” “The incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show,” she said. “This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and my security team.” Tulsa police said Friday “a call was made threatening the lives of people attending the event.” Police swept the area with its K-9, bomb team, patrol and venue security but did not find anything dangerous, and the building and surrounding area was swept a second time but police “again found no credible threat to the event’s safety,” the department said. Police said that it advised Langley’s staff that no credible threat was found, “but they decided to cancel the performance anyway.” “We apologize to everyone who came down tonight. We appreciate your patience, and it is unfortunate that some nefarious characters successfully disrupted the event, ruining the evening for thousands of people,” police said. The incident remains under investigation. Langley — whose single “Choosin’ Texas” has made history for topping the Billboard Hot 100 for over 23 weeks — apologized to her fans, but stressed safety is paramount. “I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am. This is not a decision that was made lightly,” she said. “I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way,” she continued. The show was set to take place at Tulsa’s BOK Center, which shared the same statement Langley included in her post on social media. “The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our absolutely priority, and after careful consideration, we have determined that the show cannot proceed,” the statement said. “The safety of fans is our foremost concern and will always come first.” The statement said details regarding refunds will be shared soon.
