Good news for TODAY fans who can’t get enough of Carson Daly during the week: He is the new co-anchor of Saturday TODAY! Carson announced on TODAY Nov. 5 that he will be permanently joining Saturday TODAY alongside Laura Jarrett on Saturdays, while also remaining part of TODAY’s regular weekday broadcasts. He had been stepping in as an interim co-anchor on Saturday TODAY with Laura since September. “I should just say, I’ve been very lucky to have a lot of TV gigs, but this one’s really special,” Carson said on TODAY after the announcement. “At my age and at my stage of my career, to have an opportunity to come in and sit next to Laura and to learn and to get better at my job to be the best broadcaster that I can, it’s not something I take lightly.” “Carson has been an integral part of the TODAY family for the past 13 years, and we are thrilled that our viewers get to spend one more day of the week with him,” Libby Leist, Executive Vice President of TODAY and Lifestyle, said in a statement. “Carson and Laura make a great team, and we can’t wait for this fresh new chapter of Saturday TODAY.” He will make his official debut alongside Laura Jarrett, feature anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman on Nov. 7. “We’re going to have a lot of fun on Saturday,” Carson said. “But most importantly, the best part about the gig, like here during the week — which I’ll still be here during the week — is getting to go to your place of employment with such high-quality human beings. We are a family, and the fact that I get to spend one more day in this building, six days a week, is an absolute honor.” “I want to say Carson, you know how much I love you, you’re like a brother to me,” Savannah Guthrie said on TODAY. “I always say to anyone who will listen that Carson is like salt and pepper on a meal. He makes everything taste better. He makes every segment he’s in pop. You bring so much love and light, and I am so happy.” The TODAY family shared a Guinness toast in honor of Carson’s new position and as a nod to his ancestral roots, which he traced in the show’s recent visit to Ireland. “Oh by the way, Saturday (TODAY) is now broadcasting from Ireland,” Carson joked on TODAY. “We’re going to have so much fun,” Laura said on TODAY. He slides into the Saturday chair as the replacement for Peter Alexander, who announced in March that he was departing TODAY’s Saturday edition and leaving NBC News after 22 years. He is now a host with MS NOW. Carson first began with TODAY in 2013 as the host of the Orange Room, the show’s digital and social media hub at the time, and became a regular presence on weekdays. He delivers all the latest pop culture and celebrity news every morning during PopStart. “I had to create my own little world here just to be a part of this historic show. We were the nexus point between the broadcast and the audience at home,” Carson said on TODAY Nov. 3 about his beginnings with the show. The longtime television personality also has hosted NBC’s hit talent show “The Voice” since 2011. Carson will not be hosting the celebrity-centric Season 31 of “The Voice,” set to debut in 2027, but clarified in an Instagram post that he is still hosting the show. Carson has been a regular TV presence for nearly three decades. He rose to national prominence hosting MTV’s “TRL” from 1998 until 2003 and also hosted the late-night show “Last Call” on NBC from 2002 until 2019. Carson is also a father of four children with his wife, Siri Daly: Jackson, 17; Etta, 14; London, 12; and Goldie, 6. Four of his children joined him on the red carpet in October for the Project Healthy Minds gala in New York City to support mental health, a cause he is passionate about.
