Paris Jackson files new documents in court and demands USD 600 million from her father’s estate; she alleges money has been withheld from being given to her and her siblings
In a recent court filing, Paris Jackson has demanded $600 million from her father's estate, alleging that executors are withholding her inheritance. The legal battle highlights concerns about trust fund distributions intended for Michael Jackson's children.
Paris Jackson has now demanded USD 600 million from her late father Michael Jackson’s estate. The case has been going on for years; however, in recent claims, the actress and singer has accused the longtime executors of his will of keeping his children from receiving their inheritance.Page Six reported that the 28-year-old filed a court case in the matter and has requested a judge to order the estate to make a distribution of the requested amount to the Michael Jackson Family Trust. She stated that there was no legitimate reason behind the ongoing delay in transferring the amount since her father’s passing almost 17 years ago.The report also states that Paris claimed that the trust, which had been intended to benefit her and her brothers, Prince, 29, and Bigi, 24, has remained unfunded, even though the estate has been making millions of dollars for years now and continues to do so. The filing was made to the Los Angeles Superior Court on October 29, directly targeting John Branca, who is the executor of her father’s estate. The filing stated that he has had an “iron grip” over the funds and controls how, when, and if the money is allocated to the pop singer’s children. According to her statements, her father’s will clearly stated that all of his children should have received their part from the trust after they turned 21; however, instead of following the instructions from the will, they have been given much smaller amounts determined by Branca.Paris Jackson alleges that the amount was further reduced after she sought legal aid last yearThe legal matter between Paris Jackson and the executors of her father’s estate has been going on since last year. She has made multiple allegations against them, which also include Branca providing “non-contractual gifts” to colleagues. Despite everything, her concerns and claims were not taken seriously; instead, they were met with dispute and discouragement. Along with that, Jackson also made claims that the already small amount that was transferred to her siblings and her was cut down by ‘millions of dollars’ following the matter.“This course of conduct and administration should not continue,” the petition stated, adding that the will was made to ensure that his children receive one-third of the principal amount by the time they turn 30, and half of their remaining shares at 35. She also listed multiple transactions over the years that the estate receives continuously, all of which accumulated to generate around USD 1 billion before taxes. Paris Jackson has also stated in the petition that, with tax matters and litigation, the money being held off is not justified, claiming that the estate has more than enough funds to distribute the remainder of the money.Michel Jackson’s estate’s official statementFollowing her filing, reps from the estate issued their own statement, which read, "Ms. Jackson’s counsel is well aware that the Estate is prevented from fully funding the charitable foundation and the individual trusts for the beneficiaries until several legal hurdles have been removed, including in particular the ongoing IRS litigation, where they sought USD 700 million in taxes and penalties from the Estate. While we were able to secure a ruling to significantly reduce that amount, the matter has not been settled and could still change. Further, the claim that the executor has withheld or ‘cut’ payments is a complete fabrication. More than USD 200 million has already been distributed to or for the benefit of Paris and the other beneficiaries.”According to the report, a scheduled meeting for the matter has been set up for next month in December.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by a third-party source.
