Angelina Jolie Plans to Leave the U.S. for These Potential Countries

Angelina Jolie shared an update on her plans to leave the U.S. for a fresh start overseas in a new interview.

The Eternals actress revealed why she's not in a hurry to put down roots in a new "home base.

Jolie previously revealed she was unable to move out of L.A. until her custody agreement with ex-husband Brad Pitt came to an end once all her kids turned 18.

Angelina Jolie is ready for a new chapter overseas following the end of her custody agreement with ex-husband Brad Pitt . In a rare new interview published on September 9, the Maleficent actress detailed her plans to leave her life in the U.S. behind—as well as what she'll be doing once she's living abroad.

Jolie opened up to L'Officiel about her plans to move away from Los Angeles, the city where she was born and has raised her six children: Maddox, 24 ; Pax, 22 ; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 20; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 18. The Mr. and Mrs. Smith star—who previously revealed she was unable to leave L.A. until her kids turned 18 — has already begun making inroads into this future, recently listing her Los Feliz estate on the market for $29.85 million in May.

"It's the end of a certain time for me," Jolie told the publication about her new beginnings. And while the 51-year-old star is ready to leave L.A. behind, she's not quite ready to put down roots. As her first order of business, the Eternals actress is focused on growing her brand Atelier Jolie "out of the States more" after launching its flagship in New York City.

"The hope for the Atelier was always to be global; Brazil might become the first space that we open outside of the U.S.," she explained. "The idea would be to visit the different locations around the world and meet local artists and makers." Jolie said she'll also be continuing with her humanitarian work, adding, "I'm going to get back to doing more hands-on work with my foundation in Cambodia and my field work."

However, Jolie clarified that she's embracing the freedom of this new era, saying she doesn't "really plan to have a base." She shared, "I'd like to have a home base for my family, a place where some of the mom stuff and the family photos are. And then I'd like to be a bit nomadic for a while. My home in Cambodia will also be a residency a few months out of the year for Khmer culture."
