Shia LaBeouf’s wife Mia Goth files for divorce amid his legal turmoil
The two actors were married in 2016
Mia Goth has filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf after 10 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences, and is seeking primary custody of their daughter Isabel.
The divorce filing comes after LaBeouf's ex-girlfriend, FKA twigs, settled a lawsuit against him, allowing her to speak freely about her alleged experiences of sexual abuse during their relationship.
LaBeouf is currently on probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor battery charges following a drunken brawl in New Orleans, and has expressed regret for his past mistakes in his relationship with Goth.
Mia Goth has filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf after 10 years of marriage.
The Pearl star, 32, filed the papers Tuesday night and cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason, according to TMZ .
Although they have been legally married since October 2016, the former couple had a turbulent on-and-off relationship in the public eye for over a decade. After Goth and LaBeouf met on the set of Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012, they tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2016 and broke up two years later. They then reconciled around 2020 and welcomed their daughter, Isabel, in 2022. Their date of separation is listed on the documents as July 28, 2025.
Goth is asking for primary legal and physical custody of Isabel, and is requesting to terminate the court's ability to award spousal support to either of the actors.
The Independent has reached out to representatives for Goth and LaBeouf for comment.
News of the filing comes just one day after LaBeouf's ex-girlfriend, singer FKA twigs, settled a lawsuit against the 40-year-old Megalopolis actor , meaning she is now free to speak about her alleged experiences of sexual abuse with him.
The lawsuit was settled after LaBeouf agreed to end the nondisclosure provisions from the former couple's settlement in December 2025.
Their long legal fight started in 2020, when Twigs accused LaBeouf of being sexually, mentally and physically abusive throughout their relationship, which lasted for about nine months in 2018. LaBeouf denied the allegations at the time.
The singer's attorney, Mathew Rosengart, said Wednesday in a statement shared with The Independent : "On the heels of Mr. LaBeouf's now dismissed, failed December 2025 arbitration against Twigs in which he sought money from her, this important victory completely frees her to discuss her experience, advocate for other women who might be less privileged, and freely support the charitable causes of her choice, which she was previously blocked from doing. To her great credit, Twigs stood up for something larger than herself, all female survivors of sexual abuse."
LaBeouf's attorney, Shawn Holley, said that the former Disney Channel star "wishes Twigs nothing but the best in her life and career and, to that end, has agreed to end their long-standing dispute."
"Twigs has spoken about this matter for years and there is now nothing to prevent her from continuing to do so," Holley told The Independent . She refused to comment on Goth's filing.
LaBeouf is currently on probation after he was arrested after getting into a drunken brawl in New Orleans in February. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery charges in June and was sentenced to two years' probation, rehabilitation for alcohol abuse, sensitivity training and anger management classes.
The actor had moved to the Louisiana city after his separation from Goth, Page Six reported at the time.
In March, he spoke about his breakup with Goth in an interview on Channel 5 With Andrew Callaghan.
"We were deeply unhappy," LaBeouf said. "I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have a baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way."
He said that their problems were "impossible" to fix, but that he still had love and respect for Goth. "We're in a good spot. I mean, this isn't new," he said. "We've been there for a while, we're trying to figure out co-parenting, and we're good. Even through all this, she gives me grace."
