The fossilized mosquito in amber from Jurassic Park just sold for over $400,000 at an auction.

Props from Star Trek , Harry Potter, and Superman were also sold at the Summer Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction earlier this week.

Jurassic Park is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.

Hold on to your butts: A major Jurassic Park movie prop was sold for an eye-popping amount of money.

The "screen-matched opening-scene" fossilized mosquito in amber from the opening scene of Jurassic Park sold for a cool $403,200, according to auction house Propstore.

"The distinctive bubbling, positioning of the embedded mosquito, and patterning where the amber meets the surrounding rock screen-match the fossil seen in close-up during the Mano de Dios mine sequence," an official description reads.

This was the first time the movie prop was offered publicly. "Few objects capture the premise and enduring cultural impact of a film so immediately, and the response from collectors reflects the significance of this remarkable piece," Propstore COO Brandon Alinger said per a press release about the sale.

It was the highest-selling item on the first day of the Summer Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction held on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Among other items up for bidding were the white suit John Travolta wore as Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever , which went for $277,200, along with Christopher Reeve's Superman costume with screen- and photo-matched tunic and replica boots, selling for $233,100.

Props from Star Trek , Harry Potter , Donnie Darko , and Edward Scissorhands were also up for auction.

As fans may recall, the fossilized bug is first found in the Mano de Dios mine in the film's opening scene.

The concept of the mosquito preserved in amber reappears later in the film when Jurassic Park's excited founder John Hammond ( Richard Attenborough ) shows Dr. Grant ( Sam Neill ), Dr. Sattler ( Laura Dern ), and Dr. Malcolm ( Jeff Goldblum ) how Jurassic Park scientists have brought dinosaurs back to life.

According to Jurassic Park scientists, the insect is believed to have fed on the blood of dinosaurs millions of years ago and became fossilized after getting stuck in the sap of a tree, dino blood included.

"This fossilized tree sap, which we call amber, waited for millions of years with the mosquito inside until Jurassic Park scientists came along. Using sophisticated techniques, they extract the preserved blood from the mosquito, and, bingo! Dino DNA!"

In the final scene when those who survived the chaotic theme park escape the island, Hammond gazes longingly at his cane topped with another mosquito frozen in time by amber — another prop we would have loved.
