When the Dallas Wings drafted Azzi Fudd with the No. 1 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, it not only set the stage for a dynamic backcourt but also brought another unique storyline. Fudd and Wings star Paige Bueckers were rumored to be dating since their time together at UConn, and they'd share the floor again after leaving one of the nation's top college programs. However, as Bueckers clarified, the chatter about them dating when Fudd was drafted is apparently untrue.

Little has been heard about the duo since then, and while they meshed well during Fudd's first season in Dallas, it appears Fudd and Bueckers felt it was time to share an update. As they explained in a recent sit-down on Fudd's podcast Fudd Around and Find Out , they are no longer together, and both seemed completely at peace with it.

"Paige and I have something that we want to share with everyone," Fudd said. "We are no longer together."

Notably, Bueckers also addressed that they've been broken up for over a year and said they weren't together at the time of the 2026 WNBA Draft.

"Yeah, we're not together anymore. It's been, for everybody wondering....it's been a while." Bueckers said. "It's been like over a year. And [I wanted] to share that because everybody's going to be like, 'Oh my gosh, they're teammates, how is this going to work?'"

"We were not together before she got drafted, so all those narratives can go to bed. She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend," Bueckers continued. "She was drafted because she deserved it, and she's an amazing human. Amazing basketball player, and we're still friends; we're still cool. We broke up over a year ago, so we played an entire season together."

Bueckers followed up with an excellent, honest statement that she doesn't stand for hate of any kind, citing the negativity they've seen and felt around them.

"We don't stand for hate of any kind, like putting people down to lift us up, individually, together. Any negative nature of that kind, like we don't associate with that, we don't condone that," Bueckers said. "If you're using our names and our image to spread that, like, that's not who we are, and that's not what we're about."

"But if you support us, why would you hate on our teammates? Why would you hate on our friends?" Bueckers continued. "Why would you hate on our family? Like, why would you just tear people down to lift us up? That's never been something that we've stood for. So, to kind of address that, because we've seen a lot of negativity, we've seen a lot of hate. We've had stuff sent to us; we've had stuff sent to our family, our friends. And I hate that we have to address this, but just to control the narrative, there's been some crazy things said about us."

It's about as honest and candid a statement as one can make, and it's clear there have been off-court issues lingering around the duo and even their team, which is both terrible and disappointing. Kudos to Bueckers for her comments and for addressing the topic directly.
