If you're a diehard rotisserie chicken fan, Walmart has just the accessory for you.

In honor of everyone's favorite national holiday, National Chicken Month , Walmart has released a purse designed to look just like one of their rotisserie chicken bags .

The bag — priced at $5.97, the same as their rotisserie chickens — comes in two different "flavors": a purple-accented traditional version, and a yellowish-orange lemon pepper flavored version.

The company is also releasing miniature charms to decorate your purse with: two that are smaller versions of the rotisserie bags, and two that are shaped like hot sauce and seasonings . They went on sale at the beginning of September, both online at SparkShop.com and in-person at the company's Bentonville, Arkansas welcome center.

All of the items are currently marked as "sold out" on the company's website .

The products' popularity might seem strange. Most people aren't even aware that National Chicken Month exists, after all, and even fewer people are currently rocking a roast chicken-based wardrobe.

But Walmart's rotisserie chickens are a fan favorite — and both the chickens and their lookalike bags serve similar roles for the multibillion-dollar company.

Here's what to know about why Walmart might have made this unconventional marketing decision.

Rotisserie chickens are a hit with shoppers because they're cheap, hot and filling

Generally, the more convenient a food is, the more expensive it is. Both restaurant and fast food tends to be more expensive than what you can find in the grocery store, and ready-made meals from the store tend to cost more than raw materials .

Rotisserie chicken is different. While the pound-for-pound cost of a whole raw chicken is less than that of a rotisserie chicken, you'll likely spend more money buying a raw chicken at Walmart than you would a ready made rotisserie chicken — and you'll still have to spend time cooking that chicken before you can actually eat it .

If you don't have the time to do that, a cheap, hot rotisserie chicken can feed your family as soon as you get home.

Walmart is known for its cheap prices — even if wholesale outlets and other bargain grocers have started to outpace its prices in recent years . A cheap, convenient meal that's full of protein like a rotisserie chicken is appealing for buyers looking for a great deal.
