Buc-ee’s to open another store this year, 6 more in 2027: What to know

(NEXSTAR) – While there have been hints about where Buc-ee’s will (and won’t) expand to next , work continues to bring Beaver Nuggets and brisket to communities in at least one dozen states.

For some, it will be the first time Buc-ee’s has opened its doors in their state.

Buc-ee’s has opened four travel centers so far this year: Ohio’s first-ever Buc-ee’s opened in April , the company’s westernmost location in June, and two spots in August .

Six locations are slated to open in 2027, with more expected in 2028 and beyond. Here’s where:

After celebrating the opening of its first-ever Buc-ee’s in August , Arkansas now awaits its second location in West Memphis . Buc-ee’s says that location is scheduled to open in 2029.

A proposed location in Tallahassee awaits final approval from county leaders, according to local reporting. The final site plan for a travel center in Port Charlotte received approval earlier this month despite pushback from local residents, according to WBBH.

A store in Fort Pierce that was originally slated for 2027 will instead aim to open in 2028, a company spokesperson told local outlet WPEC. A future location is also in the works in Ocala , slated for a 2029 opening.

Construction began on a store in Forsyth in March. It could open as early as next year , and will be the state’s fourth location.

After commissioners in Greenwood expressed interest in an additional traffic study earlier this year, the state’s first-ever Buc-ee’s is still awaiting final approval, according to local reporting .

A location in Whitestown was also said to be under consideration, the Indianapolis Business Journal previously reported .

The state’s inaugural Buc-ee’s location is expected to open in Kansas City . Job postings for the store online show it is on track to open in spring 2027.

Work continues in the area in which Buc-ee’s expects to open a location in Oak Grove, along the Kentucky-Tennessee border, sometime in 2029 .

A location in Ruston could open in spring of 2027, according to local officials. If that’s the case, it would be the first Buc-ee’s in Louisiana. Work continues on another location in Lafayette , but Buc-ee’s says this store won’t open until 2028.

Earlier this summer, Buc-ee’s received approval on incentives for a local in Gretna, an important step in the construction process. An official groundbreaking could be held for the site next year, according to local outlet KETV .

Construction began on the state’s inaugural Buc-ee’s in Mebane earlier this year, with an online job posting suggesting the store could open in fall of 2027.

City officials in Mansfield earlier approved a plan for Buc-ee’s to begin construction, and the Texas company’s land purchase for the site was completed in August, according to local reports .

Work continues on a store in Hardeeville , according to local reporting. Buc-ee’s says it is slated for a 2031 opening.

A store is opening in Murfreesboro on Nov. 16, a Buc-ee’s spokesperson confirmed to Nexstar. Another location in Gallaway is scheduled to open in fall of 2027.

Another Buc-ee’s is set to come to Texas, with a location in Boerne scheduled to open next year.

A location in Springville is reportedly still expected.

Buc-ee’s has received the necessary approval for a location in Stafford County , while officials recently gave a location in New Kent County a 2029 deadline. That can be adjusted if there are construction delays, according to local reporting .

Construction began on what could be the northernmost Buc-ee’s store in Oak Creek , just south of Milwaukee, in mid-July. An agreement reached with the city last month stipulates that work is complete by August 2028, according to local outlet WITI .

According to Buc-ee’s, it takes about 18 to 24 months to build a travel center once construction begins.

As of September, Buc-ee’s is in 14 states. Aside from the locations listed above, there may be some other states the chain has its eyes on.

At the grand opening of the Buc-ee’s in Benton, Arkansas , founder Arch “Beaver” Aplin III implied that conservative-led states may remain the focus of the chain’s growth.

“We have a lot of opportunities, we’re growing, we’re building in a lot of places, but when you find a conservative, business-friendly state with a phenomenal workforce, it makes a difference,” said Aplin while addressing the crowd .

“I’m starting to realize life’s too short to try to build in places that people don’t appreciate what you’re bringing, versus a place like this where people do appreciate what you’re building,” he continued. “So that leadership, that concept, that idea of conservative, business-friendly, family-oriented concept, works so much better if it trickles down from the very leadership from the top …”

Aplin went on to reference Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and lawmakers from the state, and acknowledged the chain is considering additional stores in Arkansas.

As of September, only one-third of the states that Buc-ee’s is building in have a Democratic governor.
