(Bloomberg) -- McKesson Corp. and the private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice will buy Option Care Health Inc. for an enterprise value of about $5.8 billion, expanding into the medical infusion space.
CD&R will hold a majority ownership interest in Option Care, which will continue to be led by its own management team, the companies said in a statement. McKesson will invest roughly $1.4 billion for about 49% interest in the company.
Option Care shares were halted before the start of regular trading in New York on Tuesday. They surged more than 20% overnight after the Financial Times reported the deal talks.
The acquisition price marks a 37% premium from Option's closing share price on Monday.
The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
