India Business News: NSE IPO: Premji Invest, Radhakishan Damani, Tiger Global and Catamaran hold shares worth Rs 18,775 crore at Rs 1,785 each; Premji, Damani retain stakes.
Bengaluru: Ahead of its listing, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) counts several marquee investors among its shareholders, including Premji Invest, Radhakishan Damani, Tiger Global and Catamaran Ventures. Together, these four hold NSE shares worth close to Rs 18,775 crore at the IPO price of Rs 1,785 per share. At the heart of it is Premji Invest, the family investment office of Wipro founder Azim Premji. Through its arm, PI Opportunities Fund I, it has built a holding of 5.8 crore NSE shares—now worth an estimated Rs 10,232 crore at the IPO price of Rs 1,785 a share. It’s one of the largest stakes held by any private investor in the exchange and the fund isn’t selling a single share in the offering, choosing instead to stay put.Close behind is Radhakishan Damani, the retail billionaire behind DMart supermarket chain. His nearly 3.9 crore NSE shares are valued at about Rs 6,856 crore. Like Premji Invest, Damani is retaining his entire stake, resisting the temptation to cash in even as the IPO creates a natural opportunity to do so.Then there is the New York-based investment firm Tiger Global, holding around 56 lakh shares worth close to Rs 1,000 crore. Rounding out the group is Catamaran Ventures, founded by Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy, whose 38.4 lakh shares are worth roughly Rs 687 crore.Get the latest Business News and Live updates.
