Kamath brothers buy 6.7% stake in Viceroy Hotels
Zerodha founders Nithin and Nikhil Kamath buy 6.7% stake in Hyderabad’s Viceroy Hotels, which runs three Marriott properties and is expanding.
BENGALURU: Zerodha co-founders Nithin and Nikhil Kamath have acquired a combined 6.7% stake in Viceroy Hotels, a Hyderabad-based hospitality company rebuilding its business after insolvency.The brothers invested through Kamath Associates and NKSquared during the September quarter.Viceroy now operates three Marriott-branded properties in Hyderabad, comprising 538 rooms and apartments. These include Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments, according to its annual report.The company acquired the 75-unit Marriott Executive Apartments at SLN Terminus in Hyderabad during FY26 in a transaction worth Rs 206 crore. Its annual report confirms that SLN Terminus Hotels and Resorts became a wholly owned subsidiary in December 2025.Viceroy is also arranging funds to repay debt at the acquired business. In an October 3 exchange filing, it said it had signed an agreement to provide SLN Terminus with an unsecured loan of Rs 38.45 crore at an annual interest rate of 8.75%. The money will be used to repay or prepay the subsidiary’s borrowings.Alongside acquisitions, Viceroy is developing a 200-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Hyderabad’s Madhapur area.
