Wingstop’s chief brand officer is departing the company

Wingstop's Senior Vice President and Chief Brand and People Officer Donnie Upshaw is resigning from the company, effective Sept. 10, to pursue another opportunity.
He joined the chain in April 2018 as vice president of human resources, and has held escalating positions since, including senior vice president of people, chief people officer, and chief people officer and senior vice president of corporate restaurants. In January, he was named chief brand and people officer, tasked with leading brand, culture, and talent strategy.
He has recently spearheaded the chain's marketing strategies with an objective of becoming more culturally relevant, with initiatives such as House of Flavor to coincide with the FIFA Men's World Cup and the new Club Wingstop loyalty program .
Prior to joining Wingstop, Upshaw was VP of HR at Check Into Cash. He also has over 10 years of experience with RaceTrac Petroleum.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Wingstop said Upshaw's departure "is not the result of any disagreement with the company or any matter relating to the company's operations, policies, or practices."
With Upshaw's departure, Wingstop's executive team shrinks to four people , including CEO Michael Skipworth, Chief Financial Officer Alex Kaleida, Chief Operating Officer Raj Kapoor, and Chief Commercial Officer Brad Brewer. Contact Alicia Kelso at Alicia.Kelso@informa.com
