Cult.fit cofounder moves K’taka HC to quash FIR

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday issued notice to complainant Deepak Poduval on a petition filed by Cult.fit cofounder Rishabh Telang seeking to quash an FIR registered against him.Justice M Nagaprasanna, however, did not stay the investigation. The court noted that police had issued Telang a notice under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and that there was no immediate apprehension of arrest. The quashing petition remains pending, and the court has not ruled on the merits of the allegations.Bellandur police registered the FIR on August 6 following a complaint by Poduval, Telang’s brother-in-law and business associate. Poduval alleged that his signatures were forged on company filings related to the striking off of Cult Fitness in 2019. He also alleged that the company’s business and intellectual property were transferred without his knowledge.Telang has denied the allegations. His counsel told the court that Poduval was aware of the transfer, had signed assignment agreements in 2017 and received around Rs 1 crore.Cult.fit and Cultfit Healthcare are not named as accused in the case. The FIR relates to Cult Fitness, which was struck off in 2019. Cult.fit filed draft papers for an initial public offering last month.Get the latest Business News and Live updates.
