Capital One is well-known for its straightforward credit card rewards and other convenient perks — no blackout dates, anyone? Two of its most popular travel rewards cards are the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card . While they have similar names, some of their benefits are distinctly different.
If you're comparing cards, this Capital One Venture vs. VentureOne review will help you learn more about both and determine which card's benefits are better for you.
Capital One Venture vs. VentureOne overview
The Capital One Venture Card has a $95 annual fee, while the Capital One VentureOne has a $0 annual fee . We think the Capital One Venture has good enough benefits to help offset its fee, but there's no worry about any of that with the VentureOne.
The Capital One Venture has a much higher welcome bonus than the VentureOne. It requires more spending but isn't above the typical spending requirement for similar travel credit cards .
These are the rewards rates for the Capital One Venture and VentureOne:
Capital One Venture: 5x miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel 2x miles on all other eligible purchases
5x miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel
2x miles on all other eligible purchases
Capital One VentureOne: 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel 1.25x miles on all other eligible purchases
5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel
1.25x miles on all other eligible purchases
While similar, the Venture edges the VentureOne with its higher base earning rate of 2x miles.
The Capital One Venture and VentureOne share the same redemption options, including:
Transfers miles to more than 15 hotel and airline partners
Cash back (mailed check or statement credit)
With both the Venture or VentureOne, there are no foreign transaction fees , and you can access over 15 transfer partners from popular airline and hotel loyalty programs.
With the Venture, you can also take advantage of:
Up to a $120 statement credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fees
A $50 experience credit, room upgrades, and early check-in at eligible hotels
Access to Hertz's Five Star membership tier, offering free upgrades, a wider selection of vehicles, and more
With the VentureOne, you get an introductory APR offer:
0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months, after which the card's 18.49% - 28.49% variable APR applies
There's no clear winner here because it depends on your preferences and personal finance goals. If you prefer travel benefits, the Venture Rewards is better. But if you'll get more value from a 0% intro APR period, you should go with the VentureOne.
Choose the Capital One Venture Rewards Card if…
You can meet the spending requirements for a higher welcome offer
You want additional benefits, such as a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit
The Capital One Venture has a $95 annual fee and doesn't provide a 0% intro APR offer, but it provides more benefits and earning potential. It's an excellent everyday rewards earner and consistently has a generous welcome offer. For frequent travelers, this is likely the more appealing option.
Welcome offer Limited-time offer: Enjoy $300 to use on hotel and vacation rental bookings through Capital One Travel in your first cardholder year, plus earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening – that’s more than $1,000 in travel value

There's little reason to have both cards at the same time because they have such similar rewards rates and benefits. It could make sense to try and earn the welcome offer on each card (if approved after applying), but there's not much lasting value in having both cards in your wallet.
If the Venture Rewards and VentureOne cards aren't the right fit for you, consider these alternative credit card offers.
