Honda’s global output falls 3% in July

Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company reported that its global vehicle production fell by 3.3% to 268,520 units in July 2026, down from 277,637 units a year earlier. Production in Japan continued to grow last month, albeit by just 1% to 68,450 units, while overseas output declined by 4.7% to 200,070 units.

In the first seven months of 2026, Honda's global vehicle production declined by 3.3% to 1,948,157 units, down from 2,014,018 units a year earlier, with a 9% rise in Japan to 430,188 units more than offset by a 6.3% drop overseas to 1,517,969 units.

Vehicle production in North America rose by 8.2% to 1,013,129 units year-to-date, driven by a 12% rise in the US to 632,566 units. Production in Asia dropped by 32% to 426,595 units, including a 43% plunge in China to 211,806 units.

Registrations in Japan increased by 2.8% to 382,392 units in this period, with mini-vehicle sales rising by 1.4% to 164,902 units and sales of other types of vehicles increasing by 3.8% to 217,490 units.

Exports from Japan fell by over 10% to 54,869 units in the first seven months of the year, with shipments to Europe rising by 19% to 29,333 units, while exports to North America plunged by 62% to 5,557 units, and shipments to other key overseas markets also declined sharply.
