GIFT Nifty futures were trading around 23,224.5 at 7:58 am IST, indicating a largely flat opening for the Nifty 50, which closed at 23,217.60 on Wednesday. Elevated crude prices and a crowded primary market are also expected to weigh on sentiment. The Fed's latest projections showed that 16 of its 18 policymakers expect at least one more 25-basis-point rate increase by the end of the year. Higher US rates could reduce the attractiveness of emerging markets such as India for global investors and may put pressure on IT stocks, which earn a significant share of their revenue from the US. Brent crude eased slightly to around $106 a barrel after reports that Saudi Arabia had offered additional cargoes through Oman, helping ease some supply concerns. However, restrictions around the Strait of Hormuz and continuing geopolitical tensions remain a risk for the oil market.
