Advent raises $30 bn, launches mid-market fund as global footprint expands
Advent International raises $30B, including $27B for flagship Fund XI, and launches first mid-market fund targeting $100M-$350M deals as it expands globally.
Bengaluru: Global private equity investor Advent International has raised $30 billion across its funds, including nearly $27 billion for its 11th flagship fund and more than $3 billion for a new mid-market strategy, as it expands its investment capabilities and international presence.Advent International GPE XI raised more than its $26 billion target, while the new Advent Mid-Market Private Equity fund is the firm’s first dedicated vehicle for smaller buyouts and growth investments. It will target equity investments of $100 million to $350 million in companies with enterprise values up to $1.2 billion, primarily in North America and Europe. The mid-market strategy will complement the flagship fund, applying Advent’s sector-led, operationally intensive approach to companies of a different scale. Both funds will draw on the firm’s global network and expertise across business and financial services, consumer, healthcare, industrial and technology sectors.Shweta Jalan, managing partner at Advent, said, “We’re proud to have raised $30 billion across our global fund complex and excited about what it means for India, where Advent has built a strong track record through recent investments including Yatharth Hospitals, Iscon Balaji, Aditya Birla Housing Finance, Svatantra and Apollo 24/7. These funds reinforce our commitment to India and give us even greater capacity to back ambitious entrepreneurs and management teams as they build for the future.”Advent made its first investment in India in October 2007, backing CAMS, and opened its Mumbai office in 2009. It has since invested more than $5.6 billion in India across 23 investments. Recent investments include Yatharth Hospitals, Iscon Balaji, Aditya Birla Housing Finance and Felix Pharma, while recent exits include Birla Capital, Manjushree and BSV.Recently, Advent gained a board seat at IT firm Coforge through its sale of Encora to Coforge. The $2.4 billion transaction was structured largely as an all-stock deal, with sellers including Advent rolling their interests into Coforge. Consequently, Encora shareholders held about 20% of Coforge. Advent-linked nominees were subsequently added to Coforge’s board.James Brocklebank, managing partner and co-chair of Advent’s executive committee, said, “In over four decades of investing, we’ve learned that when you partner with outstanding management teams to build lasting companies, great results follow. The trust our investors have placed in us in one of the most demanding fundraising environments reflects the consistency of our track record and our discipline in returning capital.”The fundraise attracted new investors as well as existing limited partners, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, institutional fund managers, family offices and high-net-worth individuals. Advent has realised approximately $13 billion across 27 businesses in 2026 so far, while investing around $10 billion across 38 new and existing businesses, including closed and pending deals.Advent’s fundraising and strategy expansion coincide with a wider push into international markets. Since 2024, the firm has opened offices in Sydney, extending its footprint into Australia and New Zealand; Tokyo, marking its entry into Japan; and Abu Dhabi, deepening its presence in the Middle East and its relationships with regional institutional investors. In early 2026, it strengthened its Hong Kong presence as a base for Asia-Pacific investor engagement. You use AI every day. Now get your AI Quotient. Take the AIQ test.
