Ema raises $77 million led by Creaegis to expand AI workforce platform

Bengaluru: Enterprise AI startup Ema has raised $77 million in a funding round led by Creaegis. Existing investors Accel, S32 and Prosus also increased their investments, the company said on Wednesday.The latest round takes Ema’s total funding to $140 million.Ema sells software agents that carry out routine work across a company’s human resources, IT and finance systems. The agents can respond to employee queries, work across existing applications and seek human approval for decisions that require it. Ema calls them “AI employees”.The company said one unnamed large IT services customer uses its system to support more than 240,000 employees across 65 countries, handling about 2.9 million employee queries a year. Ema also named Wipro, Hitachi, ADP and PwC among organisations using its technology.Ema said its revenue has grown 50-fold over the past two years, though it did not disclose revenue for either period. The new funding will go towards expanding its sales operations and further developing the platform, it said.Ema is led by co-founder and CEO Surojit Chatterjee, a former Coinbase chief product officer.
