BENGALURU: Deepinder Goyal’s wearable technology startup Temple has acquired London-based longevity medicine practice LongeVus, bringing its founders Robert Mohr and Avi Roy into the company as it builds its clinical and scientific capabilities ahead of a wider product launch.Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.Mohr will join Temple as chief medical officer, while Roy will take over as head of science, Goyal said in a post on Thursday. LongeVus will continue to operate as part of Temple, with its founders continuing to serve its existing clients. The acquisition comes as Temple works to validate the science behind its wearable device, which is worn on the temple and is designed to track physiological signals. Goyal said Mohr and Roy had spent the past two months using the device and working with Temple’s scientists to pressure-test its data and the company’s “Entropy” metric. The two subsequently became involved in Temple’s scientific validation efforts.Roy said Temple had spent about two years developing its sensor technology and building the scientific evidence underpinning the product ahead of its launch. The team is now working to get its validation studies through peer review, he said.Temple emerged publicly earlier this year after raising $54 million at a post-money valuation of about $190 million. Its investors include Peak XV Partners, Steadview Capital, Dharana Capital and Info Edge Ventures, along with a group of startup founders and early Zomato investors. In May, Goyal said the first 100 Temple devices were ready to be shipped to selected early users, including athletes, scientists and doctors, who would provide feedback on the product.Goyal stepped down as chief executive of Zomato parent Eternal earlier this year, saying he wanted more time and freedom to pursue higher-risk experiments outside the listed company. He continues to serve as vice chairman of Eternal.Get the latest Business News and Live updates. Download the TOI app.
