Kodiak Sciences soars as Zenkuda, tabirafusp-ted hit primary endpoints in phase III wet AMD trial

Kodiak Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:KOD) surged after Zenkuda and tabirafusp-ted met their primary endpoints in the phase III DAYBREAK trial for wet age-related macular degeneration.

Shares gained over 162% by midday Monday following the announcement.

Both experimental drugs demonstrated noninferiority to aflibercept in vision gains at one year, Kodiak said.

Among Zenkuda patients, 54% reached 24-week dosing intervals at one year under strict criteria requiring retreatment when retinal fluid appeared.

Zenkuda also matched or exceeded aflibercept's clinical effect during the initial loading phase, the company said.

Tabirafusp-ted also met the trial's key secondary anatomical endpoint, alongside its primary vision endpoint.

Kodiak said both experimental drugs demonstrated safety consistent with aflibercept's established safety profile.

The results bring Zenkuda's total to five successful pivotal studies spanning wet AMD, diabetic retinopathy and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion.

The company plans to submit Zenkuda's biologics license application in the fourth quarter of 2026, seeking approval across all three conditions.
